About Cristina

Writer and playwright from Spain, has been living between New York, Seville and Madrid since 2010. Some of her plays have been staged in La Habana (Teclas, Centro Hispanoamericano de Cultura, 2017), Madrid (Nada personal, Microteatro 2015) Washington DC (Happily Ever After, Ambassador Theatre 2014), Monticello-Florida (Happily Ever After, 2018) and Miami (Don’t take it personally, 2014, Una mentira repetida, 2015 y Nada personal, 2014 and 2018 ) Microteatro.
Her plays Happily Ever After along with Typing, also participated in the PEN World Voices Festival (April 2013) as part of the “Staged Readings Series New Plays from Spain” in the Martin Segal Theatre (NYC).This two plays were included in the book New Plays from Spain, edited by Frank Hentschker and published by Martin Segal Theatre Center, Instituto Cervantes and Fundación Autor (2013).
Other readings of her play Typing have been staged in III Festival de Teatro Español (Atenas, 2019)  Repertorio Español, NYC (2012), Former Spanish Embassy in Washington DC (2013), Embajada de España en La Habana (2016) and Instituto Cervantes in New York (2017) and Nada personal in Instituto Cervantes Dublin 
She has published a book of short stories, La amabilidad de los extraños (The Kindness of Strangers), and several of her short stories have appeared in literary magazines.
She holds a PhD in Literature and Spanish Cultural Studies and a MFA in Creative Writing both from New York University. She also holds two Bachelor’s degrees in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism, and masters in screenwriting and cultural management. She has worked as professor of Spanish, Literature, Film and Culture in New York University and as TV producer, screenwriter, journalist, cultural manager and free lance writer
